Shaun Kay is a DJ that has a passion for taking his audience for a ride. Every set is unique, and customised to the crowd.
Born in South Africa, Shaun Kay's understanding of dance music developed at a young age. House was his music of choice from about the age of 12 and electronic sounds intrigued him. As soon as he had witnessed the vibe of a good club, he knew he wanted to be behind the turntables and in front of a crowd.
Shaun started DJing in New Zealand in 2003. His first appearances on the Auckland scene were gigs out east. He achieved his first residency at Morrison Bar (RIP) where he regularly rocked the floor for ‘Saturday Night Live.’ He then moved to Opium Bar on Friday nights, with a mixture of house and electro setting the atmosphere in the classy surrounds.
He is commonly known for his style of clear deep basslines with a twist. He seeks to entertain and is not known for standing still in the DJ booth.
After the successful promotion of his Drop the Bass debut event in Nov 06, Shaun traveled to Koh Samui, Thailand where he played gigs at the Bauhaus club on Lamai beach and at the Green Mango super club. Now in London Shaun is regularly playing out at Clubs like Ministry of Sound and settling in for a big 2012.
